FAQ

What do I need to play?

A computer with an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari) and a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. Click Play on the home page: nothing to download, no account.

Is it free?

The demo is free. The full game will be sold on Steam; the price isn't set yet.

Where are my saves? Can I lose them?

Your web saves live in your browser and aren't uploaded. Same browser, same address, and you pick up where you left off.

You can lose them if you:

  • clear your browsing data, or play in a private window
  • switch browsers or computers
  • use Safari and don't open the site for seven days (Safari may clear its data)

To be safe, export your saves to a file in the game's settings.

Will my progress carry over to Steam?

Yes. Once the Steam version is out, make a transfer code in the web version's settings and enter it in the Steam version (codes last 24 hours). You can also export a file and import it there.

Do I have to play online?

No. Everything in the game works without online play (the web version only needs to load when you open it). Online features may come later; they're a bonus, and you can turn them off any time in the game's settings. What gets stored: see Privacy.

When is the Steam demo coming?

A little later. First we're listening to players here on the web and tuning the game, then it goes to Steam. The date will be in the devlog, and subscribers will get an email.

Does it run on a Mac?

The web version does: open it in Safari, Chrome or Firefox. The Steam version is Windows only for now.

Can I play on my phone?

No. The game needs a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad, and there are no touch controls. Open the home page on your phone to copy the link for your computer.

Can I use a gamepad?

Yes. Plug it in and press any button so the browser notices it. Xbox controllers work best; others depend on your browser. You can switch between gamepad and keyboard and mouse at any time.

It's choppy. What can I do?

Make sure hardware acceleration is on in your browser, and on a laptop, plug in and turn off battery saver. If your computer has a separate graphics card, set your browser to use it in the system's graphics settings. Still choppy? Tell us with Feedback in the game.

Which languages are there?

The game and this site are available in ten languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German and French. Apart from Simplified Chinese, the translations haven't been checked by native speakers yet, so some lines may read awkwardly. If you spot one, please tell us through Feedback in the game.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Use Feedback in the main menu or the pause menu and write a few words. By default it includes a screenshot and a replay of the floor you're on, so we can see exactly what happened. What gets sent: see the privacy notice.
